Today, reviewed the -igh spelling of the Long I sound like in night, right and sight. In this spelling, the letters -gh are silent. Did you know that the letter y is a consonant and a vowel? When it is at the beginning of a word, it is a consonant like in yogurt, yo-yo and yes. When it is at the end of a word by itself, it is a vowel and can make two sounds:
-Long E like in happy, mommy and rainy (in long words)
-Long I like in my, fly and cry (in short words)
