Nota para padres:

Tendremos dictado y examen sobre los días de la semana el martes 5 de diciembre. Los días de la semana siempre empiezan con mayúscula en inglés. También tienen que saber escribir la fecha en una frase (Today is Tuesday, December 5th, 2023). En la segunda parte del examen, tienen que poder decir cual día es el anterior y posterior a un día dado (yesterday and tomorrow). Lo trabajaremos mucho en clase esta semana. This week, we are learning to spell the days of the week and working on our calendar skills. 

Remember that the days of the week always start with a capital letter: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

Long a Wordsort Cut and Paste Worksheet

Today, we reviewed the Long a vocabulary that we worked on yesterday and we did a cut and paste worksheet to sort words with -ai and -ay. Can you read the words again?

LONG A: -ai and -ay spellings

This week, we worked on the -ai and -ay spellings of long a sound. We copied the vocabulary in our new Phonics Dictionary.

Today, we reviewed some of the vocabulary we know with the /ai/ spelling of the Long a sound like in rain, Spain, snail and paint. 

The kn- spelling of the /n/ sound

Today we learned that the /n/ sound is sometimes written kn- like in knee, knock and know. Let´s review!

The wr- Spelling of the /Rr/ Sound

Today, we learned that the /r/ sound can also be written wr- like in write, wrist and wrong. Let´s review the vocabulary!

The three spellings of the /Ff/ sound

This week, we learned that the /f/ sound has three spellings:

-f like in fish, Friday and frog

-ph like in elephant, telephone and saxophone

-gh like in laugh, enough and cough

Short /e/ spelled -ea vocabulary review

Today, we reviewed the words we learned that have the short /e/ sound spelled -ea like in head, bear and weather. Have a look!

Today, we learned that the short /e/ sound can be written:

-e like in ten, bed and red

-ea like in head, bread, breakfast and ready

Today, we reviewed the three spellings of the -er sound:

-er like in bigger, supermarket and flower

-ir like in dirty, third and thirteen

-ur like in fur, burn and turn

R-controlled Vowels: -er, -ir and -ur

Yesterday, we learned about the -er sound like in sister, farmer and computer. Today, we have learned that we can also write this sound with -ir like in bird, girl and birthday, and with the -ur like in nurse, Thursday and hamburger. Let´s review!
