Long U - Important Words to Remember

Today, we learned about some unusual spellings of the Long U Sound. We have to remember these words because we use them a lot!

Long U with -ou and -o spellings

Good morning!

Today we are going to work on two spellings of the Long U sound:

-ou like in group, soup and you

-o like in two, do and today

Long u with -ew spellings

Today, we are going to learn about the -ew spelling of the Long U Sound: like in new, few and grew. We also copied the words in our Phonics Dictionary.  

Nota para padres: los verbos to fly (volar), to grow (crecer), to blow (soplar), to draw  (dibujar), y to know (saber) hacen pasados irregulares en inglés. Se tienen que aprender de memoria porque son verbos muy comunes. Lo positivo es que empleamos la misma forma del verbo para todas las personas.

Long u with the Magic -e

Today, we are going to learn about the Long U Sound spelled with the Magic -e like in June, flute and cube. Are you ready? We copied the words in our Phonics Dictionary. 

Long /u/ with -ui spelling

Today, we are going to learn about the -ui spelling of the Long U Sound. It is not very common and is always in the middle of words.

Long u with u spelling

Today, we are going to review the -u spelling of the Long U Sound like in music, unicorn and computer. We are also reviewing the Short U Sound like in run, cut and up. Here we go! 

Long u sound with -ue spelling

Today, we have started to review the Long U Sound with the -ue spelling like in blue, glue and Tuesday. Remember that this spelling of the Long U Sound is found in the middle or at the end of words, never at the beginning. Let´s review!

Today, we have learned about the -o and -oe spellings of the Long O Sound like in no, potato, tomato, potatoes, tomatoes and goes.

Today, we reviewed the letter Oo can make a short sound like in hot, stop and not. Then, we learned that it also makes a long sound like in no, go and open. Then, we copied the vocabulary in our Phonics Dictionary.

Today, we completed our Long I workbook. We did this worksheet in which we had to complete the sentences with our spelling words. 

Long i Spelling Words Review

Today, we have continued working with the Long i  words for the spelling test on Friday. 

Long /i/ with -igh spelling Dictionary Copy

Today, reviewed  the -igh spelling of the Long I sound like in night, right and sight. In this spelling, the letters -gh are silent. We learned that we live in Ejea de los Caballeros/Ejea of the Knights. We copied and illustrated our vocabulary in our dictionary. You can listen to us reading the words in the video below. 😃
