Today, we completed our Long I workbook. We did this worksheet in which we had to complete the sentences with our spelling words. 

Long i Spelling Words Review

Today, we have continued working with the Long i  words for the spelling test on Friday. 

Long /i/ with -igh spelling Dictionary Copy

Today, reviewed  the -igh spelling of the Long I sound like in night, right and sight. In this spelling, the letters -gh are silent. We learned that we live in Ejea de los Caballeros/Ejea of the Knights. We copied and illustrated our vocabulary in our dictionary. You can listen to us reading the words in the video below. 😃

New Book: Hide and Seek

Today, we read a new book called Hide and Seek. Let´s read it again together!

Long I: -igh spelling and worksheet

Today, we are learning that the Long I sound can be written with -igh like in night, light, sight and firefighter. We also completed a worksheet with some of this vocabulary. 

Long /i/ Sound with -i Spelling

We know that sometimes the letter i makes a short sound like in big, sit and pig. But today, we reviewed that it also makes the long sound like in Friday, triangle and tiger. We copied the words in our Phonics Dictionary. You can practice saying the words with us in the video below.

The Sounds of the Letter Yy

Today, we reviewed the three different sounds of the letter Yy. Then, we sorted the words on the board. You can see us do it in the video below. 

Did you know that the letter y is a consonant and a vowel? When it is at the beginning of a word, it is a consonant like in yogurt, yo-yo and yes. When it is at the end of a word by itself, it is a vowel and can make two sounds:

-Long E like in happy, mommy and rainy (in long words)

-Long I like in my, fly and cry (in short words)

Today, we reviewed the Long I sound and song. We also copied some words with the -ie spelling in our Phonics Dictionary. 

Long I with -y and -ie Spellings

This week, we have started to review the Long I sound with the -y and -ie spellings like in fly, cry and spy as well as flies, cries and spies. Let´s review!

The Letter Yy - My Family

Today we reviewed that when the letter Yy

-is at the beginning of a word, it is a consonant and it makes the same sound as in yogurt, yellow and yes.

-is at the end of a word, it is a vowel and it can make the Long E sound like in happy, January and sunny.

Long /e/ with -e spelling and using pronouns

Today, we learned that the letter -e can make two sounds:

- the short /e/ sound like in ten, hen and pet

- the long /e/ sound like in zero, hero, and she

Do you know that he, she, we and me are pronouns? We practiced making lots of sentences with these special words:

-He is a boy.

-She is a girl.

-Give me the marker. 

-We are in class.

-She is sitting.

-We are working.

-He is eating.
